Cadoux (ASX: CCM) HPA Used in Factory-Scale Recycled Battery Run
Cadoux’s premiumHPA has completed a factory-scale lithium-ion battery production run alongside recycled graphite. The resulting cells are intended for electric bus battery modules.

0:00 / 2:35Cadoux Limited’s high purity alumina has been incorporated into lithium-ion cells produced in a factory-scale manufacturing campaign under the European Union-funded SAFELOOP project, advancing the material from development work into an industrial production setting.
The campaign used Cadoux’s premiumHPA alongside graphite recovered from end-of-life batteries. A 500 kg batch of battery-grade recycled graphite was supplied by consortium member AETC to Turkish battery manufacturer Aspilsan Enerji for the production run.
During the September quarter of 2026, 18650-format cells containing the recycled material and premiumHPA completed the full manufacturing process at Aspilsan’s facility. This included electrode preparation, coating, cell assembly and formation.
The cells are intended to be integrated into battery modules for an electric bus manufactured by Bozankaya. That planned deployment provides SAFELOOP with a pathway to test recycled battery materials in an end-use mobility application, although Cadoux did not disclose a commercial order, revenue contribution or timetable for deployment.
Industrial validation for premiumHPA
Cadoux is the sole high purity alumina materials supplier to SAFELOOP, an international consortium combining battery manufacturers, technology developers and research partners. The project is focused on improving battery safety, longevity and material circularity while strengthening European supply chains.
For Cadoux, the central benefit is the opportunity to establish premiumHPA’s performance and manufacturability within next-generation batteries. The company is targeting applications including ceramic battery coatings, where high purity alumina can support battery safety.
The latest production campaign moves that work beyond laboratory-level material development by demonstrating that cells containing premiumHPA and recycled graphite can pass through an existing factory-scale process. It does not, however, represent commercial adoption by itself. Cadoux said it would seek to convert ongoing material development and qualification work into future commercial relationships.
Managing Director Roland Hill said: “The SAFELOOP milestone recycling and manufacturing achievement represents a meaningful step towards industrial-scale giga-factory circular battery production and further positions Cadoux to pursue opportunities for premiumHPA® in advanced battery applications”.
Wider HPA development strategy
Cadoux is developing an integrated process capable of producing high purity alumina at up to 99.999% purity. The process has been demonstrated through a pilot plant, and the company plans a staged commercial development comprising a 1,000-tonne-per-year facility in Western Australia followed by a 10,000-tonne-per-year commercial plant.
The SAFELOOP campaign therefore provides product-validation context for a business that remains in development. Its investment relevance will ultimately depend on whether technical qualification and manufacturing trials translate into customer relationships and demand for Cadoux’s proposed production capacity.
