L1 Group has launched PXC Advisors, a specialist global long-short investment manager formed with Dr Andrew Lin.
The parties will each own 50% of the new business. PXC Advisors will initially offer the Dynamic Return Strategy, which Lin has managed since January 2024.
The strategy recorded a 51% annualised return, net of fees, from inception through July 31, 2026. It will open to eligible external investors in September.
PXC Advisors will also assume management of the Platinum International Technology Fund portfolio from September 14, 2026.
A New Addition to the Alternatives Platform
The joint venture is L1 Group’s first new investment partnership since the L1 Capital Catalyst Fund launched in 2021. It expands the group’s alternatives platform through a separately branded specialist manager.
L1 Group is providing seed capital, institutional operating infrastructure and global distribution capabilities. The model combines those resources with Lin’s investment experience and leadership of the new manager.
The announcement did not disclose assets under management, expected inflows, fee arrangements or projected earnings contributions from PXC Advisors. Those figures will help quantify the venture’s financial contribution after it begins accepting outside capital.
Who Is Dr Andrew Lin?
Lin founded PXC Advisors after spending eight years within L1 Capital’s award-winning Long Short investment team. His history with L1 means the partnership reunites the group with a manager familiar with its investment operations.
His experience also extends beyond funds management. Before his investment career, Lin was a technology entrepreneur and worked at global consulting firm Bain & Company.
He is also a qualified medical doctor. Together, that background spans investment analysis, technology, business strategy and medicine.
The experience provides context for PXC Advisors’ focus on technology, industrials, healthcare and other growth sectors. Its process seeks opportunities created by changes within companies and industries.
How the Strategy Invests
The Dynamic Return Strategy follows an absolute-return, global long-short approach. It targets securities considered mispriced because of major changes affecting a business or industry.
Its process uses bottom-up research and adjusts market exposure according to available opportunities and the manager’s forward-looking assessment of risk and reward.
Lin said: “PXC Advisors was established with a clear investment philosophy centred on identifying business and industry inflection points where our assessment of future earnings differs from prevailing market expectations. We believe these periods of change create compelling opportunities for active investors, particularly across technology, industrials, healthcare and other growth sectors.”
The strategy has operated through the L1 Capital Global Champions Fund since January 1, 2024. Capital provided by L1 Capital’s founders and employees supported the strategy before its external launch.
Performance Comes With a Caveat
The reported 51% annualised return covers the period from inception to July 31, 2026. It is calculated net of fees. However, the operating history remains relatively short.
Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future returns. Eligibility for the September opening will depend on each investor’s circumstances and the applicable offering documents.
For L1 Group, the 50% ownership structure provides direct exposure to PXC Advisors while Lin remains its investment lead. The next visible steps are the external opening and transfer of the Platinum fund portfolio in September.
