Golden Deeps (ASX: GED) Starts Deeper Drilling at Graceland

Golden Deeps Limited has commenced deeper diamond drilling at its Graceland critical-metals discovery in Namibia’s Otavi Mountain Land.

The program targets copper, silver, zinc, lead and germanium-bearing sulphide zones beneath high-grade surface mineralisation. It follows rock-chip sampling, channel sampling, shallow drilling and induced polarisation surveys.

An initial 10 diamond holes will test targets below Gossan 1 and Gossan 1 East. Later drilling will examine deeper extensions and the Gossan 1 Far East target.

Drilling Moves Below the Gossans

The three induced polarisation targets extend across the 800-metre Gossan 1 corridor. They remain open at depth and towards the east.

Initial holes will test down-plunge extensions of known mineralised zones and associated chargeability anomalies. The first phase can test targets as deep as 250 metres below surface.

Stage two will examine extensions below 100 metres at Gossan 1 and Gossan 1 East. It will also test Gossan 1 Far East, the strongest and largest anomaly identified so far.

That eastern target has no surface expression. Its scale and mineral content therefore remain untested by drilling.

Shallow Assays Establish Continuity

Assays from four earlier shallow diamond holes supported down-dip continuity beneath the outcropping gossans.

At Gossan 1, hole GLBPD009 returned 8.20 metres grading 3.5% copper equivalent from 6.8 metres. The interval contained 0.40% copper, 31 grams per tonne silver and 6.23% zinc. It also carried 2.06% lead and 30.4 grams per tonne germanium.

A 2.12-metre section within that interval graded 6.2% copper equivalent. Peak assays included 23.2% zinc, 8.2% lead and 118 grams per tonne germanium.

At Gossan 1 East, GLBPD007 intersected 4.48 metres at 4.0% copper equivalent from 2.52 metres. That included 1.12 metres at 13.0% copper equivalent, with 8.16% copper and 270 grams per tonne silver.

A narrower 0.30-metre interval produced peak assays of 9.19% copper and 417 grams per tonne silver.

Reported intersections are downhole lengths. Golden Deeps said they are approximately 50% to 80% greater than estimated true widths.

The Tsumeb Exploration Model

Graceland lies within Golden Deeps’ 440-square-kilometre Otavi Mountain Land tenement holding. The broader mineralised corridor spans about three kilometres and is one kilometre wide.

The company compares Graceland’s structural setting and metal suite with the historic Tsumeb deposit, 30 kilometres north. Tsumeb produced 27 million tonnes grading 4.3% copper, 10% lead and 3.5% zinc. Production grades also included 95 grams per tonne silver and 50 grams per tonne germanium.

That comparison provides the geological rationale for testing beneath relatively modest surface gossans. However, Graceland’s deeper targets still require drill confirmation.

The drilling campaign is expected to continue for several months. Golden Deeps said results will be released as they become available.
