0:00 / 2:51Titomic Limited has secured a US$5 million contract from the US Air Force to supply a high-pressure cold spray system for Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, expanding the Australian company’s presence in the US defence sustainment market.
The contract, worth about A$6.9 million, covers the supply, integration, installation and commissioning of a turnkey system built around Titomic’s TKF 1000 platform.
Delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027, with installation subject to site coordination and customer approvals.
Titomic did not disclose the contract’s payment schedule or expected margin. Revenue will be recognised in line with the agreement’s performance obligations and applicable accounting standards.
Defence Sustainment Capability
The system will combine Titomic’s high-pressure cold spray technology with industrial robotic automation, powder and gas management, process monitoring, safety systems and real-time quality verification.
It is designed for depot-level manufacturing and maintenance applications including component repair, dimensional restoration and protection against corrosion and wear.
The system can also be used for additive and hybrid manufacturing, as well as multi-material deposition. These capabilities allow metal to be deposited for manufacturing and repair applications.
Titomic USA will support the program from its operations in Huntsville, Alabama.
Tinker Air Force Base houses what Titomic described as the largest US Air Force maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in the country. The installation will place Titomic’s equipment within a major US defence sustainment operation.
Contract Extends Beyond Equipment Sale
The award includes more than the delivery of a standalone machine.
Titomic will integrate, install and commission the equipment, while also providing operator training and ongoing technical support.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Jim Simpson said the contract would establish a production-ready manufacturing capability at the base rather than simply supply equipment.
“We are delivering more than a machine - we are establishing a partnership and providing an integrated, production-ready manufacturing capability,” Simpson said.
The contract expands Titomic’s role in the US defence sustainment market. Management said cold spray could support asset readiness and extend the operating life of components.
Titomic develops metal additive manufacturing, coating and repair systems using its kinetic fusion cold spray technology. Its target markets include aerospace, defence, shipbuilding, oil and gas, mining and automotive.
The company operates in the US, Australia and Europe. It provides equipment, original equipment manufacturer production and research and development services for industrial applications.
The next major milestone under the Air Force contract is delivery of the system in the September quarter of 2027. The timing of final installation remains dependent on site coordination and customer approvals.
