Pureprofile has reported record first-quarter revenue and EBITDA, with earnings growing faster than sales as its technology platform became a much larger part of the business.

The data and insights company generated preliminary, unaudited revenue of $18.3 million for the three months to September 30, 2026, up 14% from the prior corresponding period. Growth was 19% on a constant-currency basis.

EBITDA rose 27% to $2.4 million, lifting the EBITDA margin by one percentage point to 13%. Operating expenses increased by about 10%, below the rate of revenue growth and allowing more of the additional sales to flow through to earnings.

The EBITDA figures exclude significant items, including share-based payments.

Platform changes the revenue mix

Platform revenue more than doubled to $8.8 million, representing about 48% of group revenue compared with 26% a year earlier. Pureprofile attributed the increase to expanding API-driven integrations and greater adoption of automated data-delivery products.

That shift is central to the company’s margin strategy. Pureprofile is seeking to use automated and technology-enabled services, alongside a largely fixed and centralised overhead base, to increase operating leverage as revenue expands.

Australia and New Zealand revenue increased 21% to $9.6 million, supported by higher project volumes and increased average revenue per project. The acquired CRNRSTONE qualitative research business, rebranded as Pureprofile Qual during the quarter, contributed about five percentage points of that regional growth.

Rest-of-world revenue rose 7% to $8.7 million, or approximately 16% in constant currency. Foreign-exchange movements reduced reported quarterly revenue by about $700,000 because of the group’s exposure to US dollar and British pound revenue.

International operations accounted for 48% of group revenue, up from about 30% in the first quarter of FY21. Client numbers increased by 38 during the latest quarter to 1,035, while rolling 12-month annuity revenue edged up to $16.9 million from $16.7 million at the end of June.

FY27 guidance targets further margin improvement

Pureprofile is guiding to FY27 revenue of $72 million to $75 million, equivalent to growth of 11% to 15% from FY26. It expects an EBITDA margin of 11% to 12%, compared with 10% in FY26. The guidance assumes current global macroeconomic conditions continue.

Management expects growth across Australia, New Zealand and international markets, including targeted market-share gains in the US and UK. Its plans also include automation and AI integration, increased sales to existing clients and potentially earnings-accretive acquisitions funded from existing cash, primarily in the US.

The company also extended its $2.5 million Commonwealth Bank loan facility to November 2029. The annual line fee was reduced from 4.20% to 2.85%, plus BBSY interest.
